Crown in a day
Why you may Need Crowns
Our teeth are exposed to huge forces everyday during chewing, acids from our foods and beverages, and also bacteria from the oral cavity. For these reasons they are susceptible to problems such as decay, cracks, abrasion and discoloration. In some of these cases a crown is needed in order to restore and protect the tooth for the long term.
How it Works
CEREC provides the ultimate in digital dentistry technology and allows us to design your crown with 3D imaging and mill the restoration right in our office.
There are several types of restorations with different indications that can be milled from the CEREC which include inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers and bridges. With this advanced technology we can provide our patients with durable, natural looking restorations in just ONE appointment. This mean fewer injections and eliminates the need for any unpleasant impression material, and any temporary prosthesis.
Here’s how it works
- After the consultation and preparation of the tooth, a 3D camera captures the area to be treated
- The dental prosthesis is then created as a 3D model on the computer
- Afterwards the inlay, onlay, crown or veneer restoration that was created on the computer is subsequently milled from a ceramic block
- Just a little while later, the finished ceramic restoration is inserted
